Travelling to School
Parents are asked to decide, based on conditions where they are, whether it is safe for their child to make the journey to school.
Please be aware that both the road and pavements in Norfolk Road can become extremely icy.
Parents who drive their sons or daughters to school are asked to Sainsburys car park, which is free before 9am and after 3pm, to reduce the risk to pedestrians in Norfolk Road.
We appreciate that children may not be able to arrive to school on time due to adverse weather conditions.
Important information regarding Severe Weather Procedures
How will you know if the school has to close?
If the School has to close, this will be published in the following ways:
- On the School website
- School Call 0871 231 1559
- On the HCC website at http://www.imodus.com/summary.aspx?company=99
- On local radio stations - Heartbeat FM (106.7-106.9 FM) - BBC Three Counties Radio (103.8 FM / 95.5 FM or 630 MW / 1161 MW)
What if the School is open but it is not safe to travel where you live?
We will obviously try to stay open if it is safe and practical to do so. However, while it is important that we minimise the effect of adverse weather conditions on your child's learning, please do not send your child to school if you consider that conditions where you are make this unsafe. In this situation, children should continue to study at home, either revising or using online study sites.
