School Values in PSHE

In 2020 we decided to use Jigsaw as a base for our curriculum. Jigsaw is a unique, spiral, progressive and effective scheme of work. We felt the scheme offered flexibility and appropriate resources that matched our school values. Jigsaw includes Relationships, Sex and Health Education, fulfilling DfE statutory requirements. Our curriculum is forever changing and adapting to meet current need within a class or year group therefore, we do not map this like other subjects. Our curriculum map outlines the areas we explore throughout the year.

Individual and Unique

We aim to prepare young people for life, helping them really know and value who they are and understand how they relate to other people in this ever-changing world. Students have the opportunity to explore who they are: what makes them tick?

Wonderful

PSHE offers a safe place where students can learn to communicate their innermost thoughts. Where they realise that they are not alone. Where they can explore the world and make connections. PSHE hopes to give students the opportunity to recognise their own wonderful and those of others.

Flourish

Emotional intelligence is key to a healthy and happy life.  Giving students the time to reflect is key to developing a healthy mind and body. PSHE gives time for students to reflect on their own wellbeing through (for example) relaxation and meditation.

Fullness

PSHE gives our students the opportunity to think of others. We take time to recognise our privilege and help others who are not as fortunate as we are. Completing activities which develop our feelings of connectedness helps us realise we are not alone. We can achieve something great when we all work together.
