PSHE and RSE
Why do we learn about PSHE and Relationships and Sex Education (RSE)?
Individual and Unique
All of us are individual and unique. The PSHE and RSE curriculum is designed to:
- Help us all to discover those aspects of us that make us into that individual and unique person that we are
- Encourage us to value and embrace these aspects of ourselves
- To start to understand and recognise these aspects in others.
Wonderful
Many of us struggle to see the immensity of how amazing and wonderful we are as human beings due to a whole raft of reasons, sometimes relating to the past and the present. In PSHE we explore how wonderful we are in terms of:
- Relationships
- Health and Wellbeing
- Living in the Wider World.
Flourish
Good relationships are a central pillar for all of us in order to flourish in our lives both as children and as adults. Sometimes barriers will come in our way, and PSHE and RSE will help us to explore some of these barriers and make good choices. This could include problems such as friendships and bullying, online usage, health or wellbeing issues and thriving through puberty.
Fullness
PSHE helps us to develop into rounded human beings in the next stage of our lives. This includes emotional aspects mentioned above, but also includes practical aspects such as budgeting our money, first aid, staying healthy through puberty, different kinds of discrimination and being a British citizen.
