Aims of PSHCEE

  • To provide a happy and caring atmosphere with a relevant, stimulating and balanced curriculum.
  • To raise the self-esteem necessary for responsible independence, acceptance and tolerance of others.
  • To develop an appropriate set of values and moral code to enable pupils to become responsible and caring members of families and communities.
  • To encourage open and questioning minds; to promote a life-long love of learning and an understanding of themselves and others.
  • To develop social and emotional aspects of learning such as self-awareness, managing feelings, social skills, empathy and motivation.
  • To develop skills such as decision making, assertiveness and co-operation; enabling pupils to become more effective as individuals and as part of a group.
  • To raise awareness of the various influences on behavior; enabling pupils to make positive and healthy choices about their behaviour.
  • To develop listening skills, tolerance and respect for other's opinions.
  • To give pupils the knowledge, skills and understanding to play an effective role in society at local, national and international levels.
